IRS: Be Prepared for Natural Disasters

September is National Preparedness Month.

The IRS urges taxpayers to be prepared for natural disasters. The continuance and increase in wildfires, flooding and the beginning of hurricane season, taxpayers should ensure they take the steps to develop an emergency preparedness plan. Natural disasters are increasing across the country.

While FEMA, state Emergency Management Administrations and volunteer organizations can assist in the event of a disaster, there is also a need to focus on valuable documents, from tax to financial records. Whether you are an individual or an organization, it’s imperative that you have a plan in place to secure personal, business, tax and other important legal documents. Decide whether this will be a water proof safe, a safe deposit box or other secure location which is readily accessible and protected.

If you or your organization need assistance with taxes, startup and operations, or are an individual coming to the United States and requesting an ITIN, reach out to us at the Sirius Tax Group today!
